Dale & Debbie #67: Holidays in Sedona & Apache Junction, AZ

Dale & Debbie #67: Holidays in Sedona & Apache Junction, AZ

25th Mar 2026

Just before leaving Peach Springs, AZ (where we left our motor home during our Big Adventure), we experienced a dusting of snow. It was time to get out of there!

Driving past the San Francisco Peaks on our way to Clarkdale, AZ.

Rain Spirit RV Resort in Clarkdale. I love the reflection!

We explored Tuzigoot National Monument. It was closed the last time we were in this area due to Covid. This Sinagua hilltop pueblo site has 110 rooms and is 1000 years old.

Looking over the Verde Valley where cottonwood trees line the Verde River.

We left our motor home in Clarkdale during the Thanksgiving Holiday while we stayed at an Airbnb in Sedona with our kids. We also celebrated Brian’s birthday during our time together!

This was our view from the backyard during a golden hour.

View through the front window of the house. It was a lovely home and great location!

The Chapel of the Holy Cross was built into the red rocks.

It was time for our kids to catch their flights back home and for us to move further south to our winter destination in Apache Junction, AZ.

It felt good to know we’d be in one place for a while.

I rode my bike in the Christmas parade at the RV Resort.

Thanks to Dale, I had red blinking lights in my bells. My Santa button lit up and played: “We Wish You a Merry Christmas!”

While waiting for it to get dark, this Grinch kept sneaking up behind me!

Some of the golf carts were all decked out!

Lisa returned to spend the week between Christmas and New Years with us!

All three of us enjoyed the Dolly Steamboat tour of Canyon Lake! The scenery constantly changed with so many different rock formations and colors. And the flora and fauna was amazing! We were fortunate to watch about 10 bighorn sheep!

Woman kneeling with curlers in her hair! This is the face on the above rock. If you look closely, you will see a bald eagle’s nest on top of his head.

Not far away, we spotted a pair of eagles perched HIGH on a cliff.

We hiked up to the Wave Cave in the Superstition Wilderness. First, we had to walk across the desert floor as the trailhead parking lot was full. Therefore, we had to park much further away!

Getting close to the Wave Cave.

The views were so grand, we could have sat there for hours, but it was time to head back down.

Our timing was perfect for viewing the golden hour (above), AND as we walked back across the desert, a bobcat ran across the trail in front of us. It was too quick for a picture, but Lisa and I saw it. Dale had stopped to take some pictures, therefore, he wasn’t close enough and had to take our word for it!

This picture was taken while looking for the Salt River wild horses, but we found a roadrunner instead.  Beep Beep!

I’m going to share one last hike. It was around part of Saguaro Lake. Saguaro and Canyon Lakes are two of the four reservoirs they dammed up along the Salt River known as the Salt River Project.

Until next time,

Debbie & Dale
