Shafer Basin and Arches National Park!

More evaporation ponds, a mine and lots of arches!
The following pictures were taken on our drive thru Shafer Basin.
There are 23 evaporation ponds spread over 400 acres. The drive thru the basin goes right past some of them.
The Intrepid Potash mine.
This rock was cut to lay the train tracks out to the mine.
The following pictures were taken in the general Moab area.
These almost look like they could be cliff dwellings, but they were used as grain bins.
We just had to visit Arches NP while we were so close even though this was our third visit over the years. There are more than 2000 arches in the park so we could never see all of them! Interesting facts: Arches NP contains the highest density of natural arches in the world with the most famous being Delicate Arch (seen below).
More arches to come, but first I want to share some other scenery in the park. It’s not just about the arches ~ well, it kind of is! ;)
Most of these arches and windows are located in Arches National Park but I also included some from Canyonlands and a few other places we hiked.
